“France Atlantide Newsletter”
Exhibition by Séverine Bascouert and Sammy Stein (Lagon Revue)
at Pitted Dates
In the 1950s, amateur ufologists exchanged fanzines containing testimonies from contactees, accounts of unexplained sightings, and enigmatic photographs. Some shorter publications, which required a subscription, circulated in the form of a “newsletter”. Sent by post without an envelope, the stamp was stuck and sealed directly onto the last page of these few photocopied pages, folded and bound with one or two staples. The France Atlantide project, which brings together publications, documentary archives and installations, explores spaces occupied by individuals whose ideas, beliefs and convictions defy common sense.
For the exhibition “France Atlantide Newsletter” at Pitted Dates, Séverine Bascouert and Sammy Stein are presenting this research in fragments, including drawings, photos, or documents gathered during their visits (the site of a hermit who dug tunnels, a rocket tower operated by a Japanese sect, a museum filled with fake archaeological artefacts...) Their residency in Helsinki is also an opportunity to print a newsletter and, who knows, to discover new and unique territories.
The opening will take place on Friday, 5 June, from 18:00–21:00.
The exhibition is open: June 6–7, 2026: 12:00–16:00 / June 10–14, 2026: 12:00–16:00
Address: Työpajankatu 2, Teurastamo R1s, 00580 Helsinki.
Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
